A Balboa Peninsula house owned by auto tycoon Fletcher “Ted” Jones Jr. has hit the market at just under $30 million.

The 9,478-square-foot house includes an infinity swimming pool facing Newport Harbor and docks that can accommodate two 65-foot yachts.

Dubbed “Villa sul Mare,” the Mediterranean home has six bedrooms, sunken courtyards, a home theater, subterranean wine tasting room and a detached casita, according to John McMonigle, the listing agent.

The two-story house, on a third of an acre, previously was on the market as a rental for $100,000 a month.

Built in 2006, the home reflects many trips to Florence Italy, “where countless artifacts were selected, purchased and flown back to Newport Beach,” McMonigle wrote in the current listing. Read complete story from OC Register here.

A Balboa Peninsula community newsletter several years ago welcomed Jones to the neighborhood, and the house, shown with Italianate features but empty rooms in the listing photos, is tied through public records to the address of Fletcher Jones Management Group headquarters in Las Vegas.

The Orange County Business Journal last year estimated Jones’ worth at $575 million. His flagship operation is Fletcher Jones Motorcars in Newport Beach. In 2013, CNBC-TV’s “Secret Lives of the Super Rich” featured Jones’ over-the-top Beverly Hills wedding to Darlene Kurtis, Playboy Playmate of the Year in 2002.
