John McMonigle of Troques Luxury Auctions in Newport Beach held an event at a private residence in Shady Canyon that Troques.com auctioned.

The goal of the event was to raise awareness in the community of Type 1 Diabetes and the progress being made toward its effective treatment.

More than 300 guests in attendance enjoyed an sunset view, danced to live music, modeled Black Starr and Frost’s finest gem stones, and played poker.

Organizers Kim CohenMegan GarciaChristy Coffey and Greer Wylder had a special treat for the evening, introducing Devon Cohen of Newport Coast, age 12, son of Brad and Kim Cohen, who shared how he started a charity that provides ID bracelets and teddy bears to children diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes.

Dr. Ping Wang of UCI Diabetes Center was also in attendance and shared with the group the progress that the Center is making.

Several merchants including David August, Pellegrio Tequila, J.C. Newman Cigar Co., Ferrari and CdM Florist donated products, services and opportunity drawing prizes for the event.
